about

Derek Bartholomay (b. 2001)

I am now based in The Hague (NL), but I spent most of my life in Minnesota (US).

Although my practice is led by intuition, it is equally as informed by reflecting on the contextual factors that influence this intuitive process. Through explorations of the medium itself, I aim to foster experience in the dissonant balance between the work and what it claims to portray, asking viewers to disarm themselves of a desire for cognitive clarity.
